Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a ceremony often comes with lots of questions — especially when you want it to feel personal, meaningful, and completely you. This page covers some of the questions I hear most from couples, but if something else is on your mind, I’m always happy to chat.

What Does A Celebrant Do?

Think of me as your ceremony BFF — I guide you through the whole process from “let’s plan this” to “I do.” I take care of all the legal requirements, work with you to craft a ceremony that reflects your story and values, and deliver it on the day with calm confidence and a little bit of magic. My job is to make sure your ceremony feels personal, meaningful, and completely you.

2

Do We Have To Write Our Own Vows?

Absolutely not! Some couples love writing their own vows, some want a little guidance, some go for shared vows, and some skip personal vows altogether. There’s no right or wrong here — I’ll walk you through the options and support whatever feels easiest, most meaningful, and most you.

3

When Should We Book Our Celebrant?

Most couples book their celebrant 9–18 months in advance, especially for peak season or popular dates. But if your wedding is coming up sooner, don’t worry — it’s still worth reaching out! I’m always happy to chat about what’s possible and help you lock in your perfect date.

4

What Happens If Plans Change, Or It Rains?

Weddings rarely go exactly to plan — and that’s totally okay! I’ve got plenty of experience handling last-minute changes, weather surprises, and timeline tweaks. On the day, I’ll stay calm, work with you (and your vendors), and make sure your ceremony still flows beautifully — rain, shine, or plot twist.

5

Do You Work with Same-Sex Couples?

Of course! Love is love, and I’m here for all of it — rainbows and all. I create ceremonies for every couple, designed to feel personal, meaningful, and completely you.

6

Can Friends Or Family Be Involved In The Ceremony?

Absolutely! Many couples love including their people through readings, rituals, or small roles during the ceremony. I’ll help you find a way to involve your loved ones that feels natural, meaningful, and seamless — so the ceremony flows beautifully while everyone gets to be part of your special moment.

7

Can Our Pets Be Involved In The Ceremony?

Absolutely — yes, 100%! Pets are family, and I love when couples include them in their ceremony. Whether they’re strutting down the aisle, standing proudly by your side, or just adding their own special vibe to the moment, I’ll help you make it work in a way that feels natural and meaningful.

I’ve even had my own fur baby star in my wedding (see pics to the left), so I know just how magical it is to have them there.

Just a heads up — all pet involvement needs to follow your venue’s policies and requirements.

8

Can We See Examples of Past Ceremonies?

Because every ceremony is deeply personal, I always respect the privacy of the couples I work with — so full scripts aren’t shared publicly.

That said, I’m happy to share short excerpts, sample wording, or chat through examples during our conversations, so you can get a feel for my style, approach, and the little touches that make each ceremony unique. Think of it as a sneak peek behind the scenes!

9

How Long Does a Ceremony Last?

It really depends on the style of ceremony you choose. A short and sweet legals-only ceremony is usually around 10 minutes. If you’re opting for a more bespoke ceremony with personal touches like readings and rituals, it can range anywhere from 20 minutes to around an hour, depending on what we include together.
